Facing the Deadline

In 2018, I submitted an art piece for the Gibert Bouchard Art Show at Happy Harbor Comics in Edmonton.

My proposed piece, “Facing the Deadline,” humorously explores the theme of the show, In the Beginning, by depicting the generation of ideas for a sequential art project.

Inspired by the style of Robert Crumb and Art Spiegelman, “Facing the Deadline” graphically illustrates the plight of a professional comic artist in the throes of writer’s block.

In this humorous exploration of the creative process, the fictional featured artist is menaced by a personification of his impending deadline.

Things take a turn for the worse when our procrastinating protagonist makes a Faustian pact with supernatural evil, in order to alleviate his plight.
